Become a Volunteer

Why Become a Volunteer?

From the Volunteering Victoria Website:

'Volunteering is all about making a difference in your community; it also benefits you personally as it offers the chance to:

  • act on your values, passions and interests
  • make new friendships and create professional networks
  • gain work experience and learn new skills
  • enjoy new social and cultural experiences
  • develop personally and build confidence
  • enjoy better physical and mental health
  • challenge yourself in a supportive environment
  • feel warm and fuzzy about helping your community
  • have fun!

Volunteers are happier, healthier and sleep better than those who don’t volunteer. Just a few hours of volunteer work can make a difference to your happiness and mood!'

You can't get a much better description than that!

Our Process

To provide you with an enjoyable and fulfilling experience, and to ensure the safety of everyone involved at the house, there are a few steps to becoming a Volunteer:

  1. Submit an Expression of Interest: This can be completed Online or coming into the house at 28 Boothman Street, Echuca for a paper copy.
  2. Interview: The Manager or a Member of the Committee of Management will sit down with you and support you to understand the role(s) you are interested in, discuss your capacity and needs, explain any questions you may have and ensure you understand Crossenvale Community House's Policies and Procedures.
  3. Pre-Volunteer Checks: You will need to apply for and submit copies of your Working With Children Check and National Police History Check (no more than 3 months old).
  4. Induction and Welcome: You will sign onto the Policies and Procedures and be provided a safety briefing. If you wish, we will hold a morning tea so existing volunteers and community members can meet you
  5. YOU'RE NOW A VOLUNTEER!!

Our Impact

Our most recent Impact Statement from Neighbourhood Houses Victoria demonstrates that for every $1 invested into Crossenvale Community House, there is $8.44 worth of community benefit. With you adding to our programs and governance, we hope to increase our economic, social and educational benefits.

Thanks For Your Interest

The greatest resource that a person has is their time, as it is almost the only thing that is irreplaceable. We thank you for considering the gift of your time and effort to make our house a better place.

We are committed to finding the best volunteers and providing them with the best opportunities and outcomes. We hope that we can add you to the great group of people that call themselves Crossenvale Community House Volunteers.
